Formed in 1975, Sydney Chamber Choir is passionate about choral music and its unique ability to celebrate and reflect upon the stories of our past, present and future. Under Artistic Director Sam Allchurch, the Choir reaches back to explore the masterpieces of the past, while also championing the music of our own time and place, particularly commissioning and premiering works by Australian composers.

This concert unites three powerful works that explore faith, humanity and the search for meaning.
Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb sets visionary poetry by Christopher Smart in music that is by turns tender, whimsical and transcendent. Ralph Vaughan Williams’ beloved Five Mystical Songs offers radiant lyricism as George Herbert’s devotional poetry unfolds in glowing harmonies, featuring acclaimed baritone David Greco. James MacMillan’s Cantos Sagrados (Sacred Songs) blends Latin sacred texts with Latin American poetry confronting oppression and injustice, creating music of fierce intensity and compassion.
With master organist Thomas Wilson, this program promises an afternoon of depth, beauty and profound emotional resonance.

In it's 60th year of presenting the best of classical music by world class musicians to local audiences, the Blue Mountains Concert Society hopes you enjoy yet another delightful experience.
